Accurate risk estimation of β-amyloid positivity to identify prodromal Alzheimer's disease: Cross-validation study of practical algorithms
Alzheimer's and Dementia Feb 11, 2019
Palmqvist S, et al. - In this cross-validation study of practical algorithms, researchers wanted to develop easily accessible algorithms to approximate the individual risk of β-amyloid (Aβ) positivity. For this investigation, the algorithms have been tested in BioFINDER and validated in Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative. Using age, 10-word delayed recall or Mini–Mental State Examination and apolipoprotein E, Aβ status was accurately estimated in BioFINDER. According to findings, these algorithms are useful in the treatment of prodromal Alzheimer's disease and can lessen the number of screenings required in Alzheimer's disease studies. Investigators observed that plasma Aβ42/Aβ40 slightly improved the models.
