Absorbable hydrogel spacer use in prostate radiotherapy: A comprehensive review of phase 3 clinical trial published data
Urology Nov 30, 2017
Karsh L, et al. - Researchers sought to appraise the safety of prostate-rectum spacer application technique, the implant quality and resulting rectal dose reduction, acute and long-term rectal, urinary and sexual toxicity, as well as the patient reported outcomes. It was discovered that prostate-rectum hydrogel spacer application was a relatively safe technical procedure. It appeared to be well tolerated and displayed a high technical success rate. Spacer application led to a marked reduction in the rectal radiation dose. This, in turn, caused long-term reductions in rectal toxicity and improvements in bowel, urinary and sexual quality of life.
