A study on the evaluation of a risk score of osteonecrosis of the femoral head based on survival analysis
Journal of Arthroplasty Jul 27, 2020
Zheng J, Wang H, Gao Y, et al. - This study was intended to construct a risk score predicting the probability of developing osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) in patients with femoral neck fracture within three years after closed reduction internal fixation, and evaluate its performance, clinical utility, and internal validity. Between March 2013 to January 2017. researchers conducted a retrospective follow-up study including a total of 378 newly injured femoral neck fracture patients who treated with three partially threaded parallel cannulated screws in three hospitals in Shanghai. Individuals were classified into development (n=284) and validation (n=94) cohorts. This study's findings demonstrate that the risk score had satisfactory discrimination and calibration performance, and indicated clinical usefulness with good internal validity. For post-traumatic ONFH, it managed to identify high-risk groups.
