A randomized trial of endometrial scratching before in vitro fertilization
New England Journal of Medicine Jan 28, 2019
Lensen S, et al. - In this pragmatic, multicenter, open-label, randomized, controlled trial, 1364 females were studied to assess the consequences of endometrial scratching before in vitro fertilization. About 26.1% live births were recorded in both the groups viz, endometrial-scratch group and control group. Researchers observed no important between-group variations in the rates of ongoing pregnancy, clinical pregnancy, multiple gestation, ectopic pregnancy, or miscarriage. They recorded 3.5, the median score for pain from endometrial scratching (on a scale of 0 to 10, with higher scores symbolizing worse pain). Overall, no significant increment in the rate of live birth was noticed with endometrial scratching.
