A randomized controlled trial of group cognitive remediation therapy for anorexia nervosa: Effects on set-shifting tasks for inpatient adults and adolescents
International Journal of Eating Disorders Aug 08, 2019
Sproch LE, et al. - Researchers assessed how a short-lived, cognitive remediation therapy (CRT) for anorexia nervosa (AN) affects set-shifting via a randomized controlled trial with a parallel design. Random assignment of 275 inpatient adults and adolescents with AN (mean age = 23.1) to either a CRT or control condition was done, with 135 allocated to CRT and 140 allocated to control condition. Findings in all traditional neuropsychological measures suggest no differential effect of CRT for AN in this format, though based on thought record analysis, adults vs children may display some increased beneficial cognitive effect in relation to CRT.
