A randomized controlled study of a psychoeducation group intervention for patients with borderline personality disorder
The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry Jan 08, 2020
Ridolfi ME, et al. - Researchers sought to determine how a 6-session psychoeducational group (PEG) intervention affects outpatients who met DSM-IV criteria for borderline personality disorder (BPD). In this study of 96 outpatients, 48 received the experimental treatment, whereas the next 48 were assigned to a waitlist. Outcomes support the efficacy of a PEG intervention for patients with BPD. The potential of PEG intervention to address significant public health needs was suggested by the overall cost benefits of group interventions and the applicability of a PEG intervention to underserved patients.
