Morris A, et al. – The physicians investigated patients' engagement experiences with renal dietitians. In the context of transactional analysis (TA) theory, Ego states could help to explain the way in which patients engage with renal dietitians. Within dietetic consultations, attention had to be given to the employment of a humanistic approach. Dietitans needed to ensure that they could demonstrate expertise and confidence in the specific communication skills required for patient–centred care.
