A prospective study of ketamine as primary therapy for prehospital profound agitation

Cole JB, et al. - Researchers design this study to assess the effectiveness of ketamine as a primary therapy for prehospital profound agitation. Findings suggested that ketamine provides rapid effective sedation in patients with prehospital profound agitation when used as a primary therapy. Intubation is common but is accompanied by a short duration of mechanical ventilation and seems to vary with individual physician practice.
