Shin IB, Koo DB, Ko MJ, et al. - Via performing a prospective, randomized controlled trial, researchers here investigated the safety and efficacy of the new gasless bilateral axillo-breast approach (BABA) robotic thyroidectomy (RoT) approach vs conventional robotic surgery using CO2 insufflation (CO2 group, n = 14; gasless group, n = 14). Outcomes support the safety of performing the new, gasless BABA RoT technique employing the da Vinci robotic surgical system. Although there was minimization of metabolic changes during operation, they recommend using gasless BABA RoT carefully when engaging in thyroid surgery; more experience is necessitated.
