A prospective case series of sphenopalatine ganglion pulsed radiofrequency therapy for refractory chronic cluster headache
European Journal of Neurology Feb 26, 2020
Lazzari ZT, et al. - In this study, researchers characterized the clinical outcomes of 14 patients (males = 9) with refractory chronic cluster headache (CCH) who underwent treatment with pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) of the sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) between January 2016 and April 2019. Eight patients (57.1%) were defined as responders to the treatment at a median follow-up of 6.5 months (range 6–13) postprocedure. Outcomes suggest PRF targeting the SPG as a safe, minimally invasive, and effective strategy for medically refractory CCH.
