A contemporary single-institution retrospective cohort study comparing perioperative outcomes between robotic and open partial nephrectomy for poorly-functioning renal moieties in children with duplex collecting systems
Journal of Pediatric Urology Jul 18, 2018
Varda BK, et al. - Authors compared the perioperative outcomes between robotic-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (RALPN) and open partial nephrectomy (OPN). A similar median OT (operative time) and safety profile to OPN was predicted by RALPN while offering the advantage of a shorter length of stay (LOS). On the residual renal moieties, there were no adverse effects, regardless of surgical cohort. Postoperative ‘contained fluid collections’ occurred with notable frequency and were independently related to lower pole pathology.
