A comparison of dental fluorosis in adult populations with and without lifetime exposure to water fluoridation
Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology Dec 09, 2018
Macey R, et al. - Experts compared the proportion and severity of fluorosis in adults with lifetime exposure to water fluoridation with a nonexposed sample. In this cross-sectional study, they recruited a sample with lifetime exposure to water fluoridation and a matched, nonexposed group. They also reported the gradient of fluorosis severity by age. Although in adults with lifetime exposure to water fluoridation, fluorosis was seen to be more common than those with no exposure, seemingly the aesthetic impact of fluorosis diminished with age. A gradient by age was noted, whereby in the youngest, fluorosis was highest and it was lowest in the oldest age group.
