American College of Rheumatology only medical association selected as top workplace for second year
American College of Rheumatology News Mar 14, 2018
The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) has been recognized as one of Atlanta’s top small workplaces by the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) for the second consecutive year. The only medical association selected out of 150 total workplaces, the ACR has a staff of 93 and provides specialized education, practice support, and advocacy for more than 9,600 rheumatologists and health professionals worldwide.
“I’m delighted to see our organization recognized in this way for the second year in a row,” said ACR Executive Vice President Mark Andrejeski. “It’s a testament to the supportive and enthusiastic environment that we foster. I’m glad to know that our dedicated employees have such a high degree of satisfaction in their work and feel that the ACR provides them with the resources to thrive.”
More than 2,300 companies were nominated or requested to participate in the 2018 Top Workplaces awards, with over 55,000 employees taking part in the survey that narrowed down Atlanta’s recipients. The ACR was chosen as one of 75 companies in the Top Workplaces small company division, which is defined as having 149 or fewer employees. Survey responses from employees, including statements rated on a seven-point Likert scale, were used to determine Top Workplaces winners. Employees were also encouraged to provide open-ended feedback about companies.
“I have always felt empowered to try out new ideas and appreciated for bringing creativity to the table. I think staff and volunteers appreciate new ideas and innovative ways to do things,” said one employee about the culture at the ACR. Another explains, “I would recommend working here because of the obvious dedication to the mission of the ACR, the high accountability, and the work-life balance. They invest in their employees, which means employees invest in them.”
“A common theme resonates from employees of these 150 top companies,” wrote the AJC in an article detailing the results of the 2018 Top Workplace awards. “Employees said time and time again that there was a genuine care from their employer and an investment in each and every one of their employees.”
ACR employees cited “work-life balance” and a “mission-driven vision” when asked what they value most about working for the organization. In addition to these factors, the ACR provides a competitive benefits package that includes health and dental insurance, a defined employer contribution retirement plan, long- and short-term disability, paid leave, and a flexible work schedule.
