As the world's second most populous world, India owns a great potential consumer market as well as medical appliances market and it offers good score for growth of business to promote the Sino-Indian medical device industry cooperation to a higher level, Ms Zhuang Jin, Deputy Director, Department of Commerce, Zhejiang Province, said on July 27.

Inaugurating the Zhejiang Export Fair-2018 (India) at the Chennai Trade Centre here, she said India stands among the top 20 in the world in terms of spending in health care, which was valued at USD ten billion. ''With over 70 per cent imported medical appliances, the expenses in health care of India remains an average annual growth rate of 12 per cent and it has been predicted that five lakh medical beds will be in need in the next five years'', she said.

''Because of India's limitation, there is a great demand for imported medical appliances'', she said, adding, in this context, the 3-day expo, MEDICALL, one of the largest medical exhibitions in India, offers long term opportunities for development for Zhejiang Province, Ms Jin added.

Ms Zhuang Jin said there was good scope for growth of businesses in India considering that some of the companies from Zhejiang province were present in Indian market for the last 20 years, their experience will held more companies to invest in India in the future.
The Export fair (India) was relying on the international expo platform to promote the development of health industry, mainly the medical equipment and expanding the export of medical products in Zhejiang province.

''This fair is for the development of specialisation, refinement, characteristic and novelty of micro, small and medium enterprises in Zhejiang province and for motivating them to try more innovation, communication and marketing'', she said. Ms Zhuang said the fair was the first large-scale self-exhibition held overseas in which 56 exhibitors display their products ranging from diagnostic devices and equipment, materials and consumables for medical use, equipment for special purpose, hospital equipment and rehabilitation products.

She said through this fair, Zhejiang Province would bring to India a new concept of innovation and development of the medical device industry, speed up mutual complimentarily, integration and win together to promote the Sino-Indian medical device cooperation to a higher level''.

Apart from 100 stalls from Zhejiang Province displaying its innovative products, more than 6,000 products from 20 countries, including Germany, Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea, Portugal, Italy, UK and USA would display their products. The Fair focusses on all the hospital needs right from surgical cotton to the latest imaging equipment and surgical tools.
