Widespread irregularities in MBBS admissions in Pondy : Raja
UNI Sep 15, 2017
BJP National Secretary H Raja today said that the action of the Medical Council of India (MCI) had proven that there was widespread irregularities in the admission to MBBS seats in Puducherry.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Raja said that the MBBS admissions were on the basis of NEET qualification as directed by the Supreme Court which enabled rural candidates to get admitted into the medical course. Since, over 700 students were admitted violating rules last year in private medical colleges, the MCI had directed to withdraw them.
This clearly shows that widespread corruption prevailed in the process of admission in Puducherry, Mr Raja said, adding that since, the private medical colleges failed to adhere to the guidelines that admission should be on the basis of NEET, MCI had initiated action now. This happened since a “corrupt”government and one which do not have any concern in the welfare of the students was in power here, he charged.Stating that the Lt.Governor enjoys more power in a Union Territory, Mr Raja said Chief Minister V Narayanasamy should realize this and should have a cordial relation with the Lt.Governor.
