Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Science and Research (VSIMSAR) Director Dr. Aswini Pujahari has resigned from his post.
Prof.Pujahari who was embroiled in a controversy over his salt treatment to the cancer patients in the VSSIMSAR , Burla had sent in his resignation letter to Odisha Governor Ganehsi Lal. The Junior Doctor Association (JDA) of the VSSIMSAR had launched cease work agitation demanding his removal from the post.
The junior doctors sat on dharna in support of the demand forcing the state government to ask Prof Pujhari to go on leave from December 7 last. The health and family welfare department had also issued a show cause notice to him to which he had complied. Dr. Pujahari today said he decided to resign from the post as the state government made inordinate delay to take any action on his reply to the show cause.
“I believe in work. I can’t sit idle for months together. So I preferred to resign instead of coming to any confrontation,” said Dr. Pujahari while interacting with media persons on the matter of his resignation. “I was a student of this college. I wanted a rebuilt it after the state government posted me in an important post. But I don’t know why state government was not happy with me,”he said.
He further said,“There were three options left before me. I could have knocked the door of the court of law. But I felt it would be wise to resign as I didn’t want to work under a hostile situation particularly in an educational institution.”
