UP government gears up to counter encephalitis

The Uttar Pradesh government has geared up to deal with encephalitis by vaccinating over 32 lakh children in the 38 most affected districts.
Official sources from Siddarthnagar, UP on May 4 said that apart from vaccination number of beds in paediatric intensive care units (PICU) were increased to 155 and other life saving equipments like ventilator were installed in hospitals of Gorakhpur and Basti division districts. Health department officers were instructed to act firmly to deal with diseases like encephalitis who has claimed lives of lakhs children in previous years.
