UP Chief Minister suspends CMO for ineffective admin

PTI Apr 03, 2018

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on April 2 suspended the Siddharth Nagar Chief Medical Officer and two police officials during a visit to the district, Domariyaganj MLA Raghvendra Pratap Singh said.

The chief minister expressed his displeasure over "ineffective" administration and scolded the district magistrate. During a public meeting, a woman, named Gita Devi, complained to the chief minister about alleged police atrocities which annoyed the CM, who asked Siddharth Nagar police chief to suspend the Station House Officer and a Sub-inspector of Itwa, the MLA said.

The woman told the CM that her neighbour was stopping her from doing some necessary construction work and that the police acted in his favour and detained her. She also alleged the police kept her in the lock up for two days and harassed her. The CM inspected Open-Defecation Free village Bhitiya and was annoyed with the "unsatisfactory administration" by district magistrate Kunal Silku.

He was also not satisfied with the fact that the Japanese encephalitis vaccination was being administered at one place rather than being done under a door-to-door campaign. He also expressed his displeasure over the fact that it was being done by untrained people. He asked CMO Dr. Ved Prakash Sharma to explain the alleged irregularities and when he failed to give a satisfactory reply, the CM ordered his suspension. "The chief minister has suspended SHO Anil Kumar Pandey and SI Rajendra Singh Yadav of Itwa police station. He has also suspended Siddharth Nagar CMO and reprimanded DM Kunal Silku," Domariyaganj (Siddharth Nagar) MLA Singh said.

Later talking to reporters about the Dalit protests against the alleged dilution of the SC/ST Act, the CM said "My sympathies are with Dalit people and if they have any problem they should come to government. But in the name of protest, spreading anarchy and disrupting law and order is not right."
