The city police on 24th June booked an undertrial at the Central Jail Thane on the charge of allegedly abusing, manhandling a doctor at the Jail hospital and also hurling stone at him.
An offence under sections 353, 504 and 506 of Indian Penal Code has been registered against the undertrial with the Thane Nagar police station, police said. The incident occurred on evening of June 22, when accused Sachin Pawar (45) came to doctor Mangesh Game (37) at the jail clinic and repeated his demand of sending him to another hospital outside the jail for treatment.
When the doctor explained to him that this cannot be done, Pawar got annoyed and abused Dr Game. Then, the undertrial grabbed the collar of the doctor, who stunned by the incident ran out of the clinic and raised an alarm. Pawar later picked up a stone and hurled at the doctor who ducked it and saved himself, the complaint stated.
The undertrial was later caught by those around, sources added. The Thane Nagar police are probing into the crime.
