Twin brothers dupe doctors at KGMU, Lucknow; took turns playing ill
Times of India Oct 30, 2018
Twin brothers from Lucknow managed to fool doctors and nurses at KGMU hospital, Lucknow by taking turns playing ill.
One of the brothers was admitted at the hospital on October 17 for TB sequelae, and when he began feeling better, he wanted to leave the hospital for a change of place. However, since he still wasn't technically granted discharge by doctors, he had his identical twin fill in for him as a patient while he was out. The brothers tricked doctors and hospital staff for three days, with the healthy twin even taking medicines and giving blood samples on behalf of his brother. Suspicion was raised when doctors found that even though their 'patient' showed symptoms, many of his test results came back as normal.
The nurses also had several complaints of misbehaviour from the brothers. KGMU's police outpost in charge was informed about this, who after learning that they were twins cracked the case. When confronted the patient agreed to duping the doctors and staff, mentioning that he asked his brother to fill in because he was scared of losing his hospital bed.
