Tripura introduces e-counseling for medical admission

Tripura government introduced e-counseling for admission to various post graduate and under graduate medical courses to bring transparency into the system following allegations of large scale malpractice and irregularities in the process during left front rule.
Health minister Sudip Roy Barman today announced the decision of the government and said the process would bring transparency and efficiency in the allotment of seats. Now, online registration and allotment of seats shall be done through e-counseling.The online process will be managed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The system will provide online facility for registration, document uploading and choice filling to the candidates to ease of doing allotment of seats as per the approved criteria, Roy Barman stated.
The aspiring students can fill up on-line applications from anywhere and anytime during the stipulated period. As per the policy directives, Common Counseling Committee for UG Medical and Dental Courses at RIMS lmphal, AGMC Agartala, Tripura Medical College & Dr BRAM Teaching Hospital as well as the colleges outside the state (as per availability) and PG seats available in Tripura is responsible for allotment of seats.He pointed out that the norms and standards prescribed by MCI have been followed and this is an important step taken by the government towards good governance to bring transparency and efficiency in the allotment of seats for medical courses.
