Telengana govt, Tata Trusts inks MoU on Cancer Care Management Prog

The Telangana Government has signed as Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tata Memorial Trust on comprehensive Cancer Care management programme on 1 March.
The MoU was signed by Telangana government Health and Medical Principal Secretary Ms A Santhi Kumari and Tata Trust Managing Trustee R Venkataramanan in the presence of Tata Trusts Chairman Ratan N Tata, Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao and Health Minister Dr. C. Laxma Reddy. Under the agreement, Telangana government and Tata Trusts jointly deliver high quality affordable cancer care through a three-tier model, and develop academic and research capabilities in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Ratan Tata, said, "We are privileged to partner with the Government of Telangana in upgrading cancer care capabilities in the public health network. Patients will no longer need to travel all the way to Hyderabad except for rare and complex conditions.” The initiative in Telangana is the latest of Tata Trusts’ effort to partner with state governments and other entities to decentralise cancer care in India. Similar initiatives are in different stages of implementation in Assam, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
