Tanda PG medical students in lurch after being left unpaid for 3 months
UNI Aug 20, 2018
Resentment prevails among nearly one hundred postgraduate (PG) students of Dr Rajinder Prasad Govt Medical College at Tanda as they were not paid their salaries/stipends for the last three months thus putting them to a dock.
Dr Girish Kumar, President of Resident Doctors Association DRPGMC Tanda, on Sunday told UNI that nearly one hundred doctors, all post graduate students, were not being paid their salaries/stipends for the last three months leaving all of them in a lurch.
He said that in the beginning they approached Health Minister Vipin Parmar at Tanda during his visit to the college and requested him to bail out the post graduate students from this trauma but without any result. He said that Resident Doctors Association approached Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in this connection who assured them that till the government takes the final decision on the issue of bank guarantee of PG students the stipends/salary of post graduates students would not be stopped.
Dr Girish Kumar said that despite the assurance of the Chief Minister nothing was done in this direction thus putting these post graduate students to a dock. He alleged that as the post graduate students were not paid their stipend/salary for the past three months and students were not able to pay even the bill of hostel mess. He said that it was becoming very difficult to carry out the expanses of post graduate studies too.
Dr Girish said that most of the students come from poor families and are dependent on the stipend/salary for the two time meals, expenses of books and study material of post graduate studies and college fee. He alleged that on one hand the all post graduate students at IGMC Shimla were getting their stipend/salary regularly and on the other hand the postgraduate students of DRPGM College at Tanda were deprived of the same.
The Association demanded that the salary/stipend of the postgraduate students of DRPGMC Tanda be released immediately as is being done in the case of IGMC Shimla students so that Tanda students were relieved of the trauma.
