Tanda Medical College provides free treatment for clubfoot

World Club Foot Day was celebrated at Tanda Medical College on June 3 and clubfoot patients were given free treatment at the special clubfoot clinic in the orthopaedics department.
Dr Bhanu Awasthi Principal Tanda Medical College said that the World Club Foot Day was celebrated on June 3 in the college which was attended by the students and faculty members, besides some patients of clubfoot. Dr Awasthi said the special clubfoot clinic is working in the college since 2007 in the department of Orthopaedics and the patients are being treated on June 5 and 8.
The Principal said till date more than 200 cases of clubfoot were treated in this clinic free of cost. He said the entire expenses for plastering and even the needed surgery are being borne by the hospital and the funds are being provided by Rogi Kalayn Samiti of the college. All clubfoot children are provided free braces too, the Principal disclosed.
He said this clinic became associated with ‘Cure International’ a global organization working for clubfoot patients, since July 2017. He said Cure International provided a counsellor Anju Bhatia who works in the clinic. This clinic is catering to the children from Kangra, Hamirpur, Chamba, Bilaspur, Una and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh and now children from adjoining states like Punjab are also visiting this clinic, Dr Bhanu said. The Principal said Dr Vipin Sharma and Dr Jasbir Singh got specialised training from globally renowned faculty in a conference recently at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. He congratulated the department for the excellent work done.
