The West Bengal government on August 24 directed district magistrates and other officials to take precautionary measures to fight the possible outbreak of dengue and other seasonal diseases.
The decision was taken at an administrative review meeting held here at the state secretariat in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. "A detailed discussion was held on August 24. Stress has been given on the cleanliness in the panchayat and urban areas," Banerjee said.
The senior officials were asked to monitor the condition of the rivers and dams during the ongoing monsoon season, she said. "Irrigation secretary gives his feedback every month. We are deliberating whether audit maps of dams can be prepared," the CM said. The district magistrates and the BDOs have also been asked to look into the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme and the mid-day meal scheme, she said.
