Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on July 26 cautioned the doctors and other medical staff from going into strike and suggested that in case of any problem they should raise their issues with the director.

Addressing the people after inaugurating the paying ward and kick starting the measles rubella vaccination drive in the state he said that RIMS is a prestigious institution in the state and its name has to be made at the national level for which cooperation of all was a must. He said that negligence in work will not be tolerated at RIMS as work of the doctors is only treating the patients and for looking after the management additional director has been appointed and it is the management which will look after the cleanliness and food for the patients.

He said that the rules framed by the hospital should be strictly followed and said that no doctor of RIMS would be allowed to atten private clinics and said that the government was conducting probe over doctors who are practising in the private also and said that the labs working within the premises would also be closed down. Mr Das said that on the demand of the doctors they were also provided promotion and their salaries was also increased but they will not be allowed to practise in private. He said that it is for one or two people that the entire hospital gets a bad name which also dents the image of the state.

The Chief Minister said that rules will also be framed for attendants of the patients. He asked the doctors to visit the wards and later sit couple of hours in the OPD. He said that the relatives should be only allowed two hours each in the morning and evening to meet the patients as this help to provide peace to the patients and doctors as well. He said even in the anganwadi centers the children should be provided with best care and called on everyone to work to reduce the maternal mortality rate in the state which was very high as compared to the national average.

The Chief Minister said that in the last four years many works have been done in the health sector of the state and said that after 67 years of Independence there were only three medical colleges in the state but now there would be three more and from next year the total of medical seats will increase to 600 seats. He said that by starting the measles rubella vaccination drive in the state Jharkhand has joined the other few states who have started this vaccination and said that immunization percentage which was 8.8 per cent has jumped to 90 per cent. Those present on the occasion included Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi Principal Secretary Health Nidhi Khare and others.
