Stray dogs enter mortuary, eat face of body; UP Govt orders probe

Stray dogs attacked the body of a woman at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital mortuary here today, following which the State Government immediately ordered a high-level probe and terminated the services of the private security supervisor and guard with immediate effect.
Principal Secretary (Health) Prashant Trivedi told UNI here that UP Government has taken serious note of security lapses at Dr RML Hospital."We have ordered a probe and guilty would not be spared," Mr Trivedi said. RML Hospital director Devendra Negi too said he will probe the entire matter. He said, ''It is a major lapse that how dogs entered the mortuary as he admitted that the body of the woman was kept in a freezer at around 1800 hrs yesterday in presence of her relatives.'' "The private security supervisor, security guard and a ward boy has been terminated who were found to be guilty in the incident," he said. The stray dogs ate some part of the face of the dead woman.
The woman, a resident of Sikerderpur of Chinnahat area Pushpa Tiwari (40), allegedly committed suicide after consuming poison yesterday. Later, her body was kept at the post-mortem house. But due to some lapses in the security, the iron channel of the post-mortem house was kept open last night from where the dogs entered the mortuary and attacked the body. The incident was reported by the family members of the deceased woman, when they made a hue and cry over the incident and started protesting. Immediately police rushed to the spot and took over the body.
