Sikkim has15.5 per lakh drug resistant TB cases

Sikkim's Health Minister AK Ghatani mentioned that there 15.5 per lakh cases of drug-resistant TB in Skikim as opposed to the national average of 9 per lakh.


The Health Minister inaugurated a two-day long workhop on Eliminating TB from Sikkim. The Drug Resistant cases in Sikkim, according to him are 15.5 per lakh, while national figure is only 9 per lakh, he said adding that the State government aims to eliminate TB from Sikkim by 2022, while the national target is 2025 and the global sustainable goals sets it by 2030. The workshop on Tuberculosis has been organised jointly by State TB cell and Task Force. He encouraged the participants to take the matter seriously as the State has high drug resistant cases in comparison to national average.
