SGRH alone gets 9 dengue, 4 chikungunya cases in 12 days

 Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Wednesday said it has received nine confirmed cases of dengue and four of chikungunya in the last 12 days, as the city continues to witness humid weather allowing a perfect breeding ground for vector-borne diseases.

 



The inflow of patients -- which includes people suspected of suffering from dengue, chikungunya and confirmed cases -- has suddenly seen a surge, according to the hospital authorities."Since starting of July we have received a total of nine dengue cases and four chikungunya cases. All are confirmed," a senior doctor at the hospital told IANS.The hospital said that six dengue patients were admitted to the hospital while three others were being treated through the Out Patient Department (OPD) services.

"Among the dengue cases, three are OPD patients while the other six have been admitted. Similarly, among the chikungunya cases, one is an OPD patient while three others with the disease have been admitted and are undergoing treatment," said the doctor.According to India Meteorological Department, till July 12, Delhi, on an average, has received a total of 84.0 mm rainfall.The hospital also confirmed providing treatment to seven patients with swine flu.

According to the data, 4,431 cases of dengue were reported in 2016 and the number of chikungunya cases stood at 9,749 -- one of the worst outbreaks for the disease till now.
