Sex determination test racket in Haryana busted by a doctor's team

A joint team of Health department and police busted a PNDT racket and arrested Dharam Pal Sarpanch of Malikpur village of this district on Monday.
The kingpin of this gang and his other associates fled from the spot. Police have recovered Rs. 34,000 from the arrested Sarpanch who was later produced in a court and taken on a day’s remand for further interrogation. The police have also booked Joginder Singh of Chhinna village and an unidentified Doctor under the PNDT Act.
Dr. Neelam Kakkar, Deputy CMO and in charge under the PNDT Act, said here that they got information that Dharam Pal sarpanch was involved in getting sex determination tests at some place on Haryana – Punjab border. Based on the tip, the team arranged a decoy woman customer who contacted the Sarpanch for sex determination test and paid Rs. 24,000 for it. The sarpanch took the decoy customer along with him and the raiding team followed him . He took the woman to a remote village. After the test when the sarpanch with the decoy customer and another woman was returning, he was nabbed by the police.
