SC directs 2 AIIMS Doctors, DLSA to supervise infant rape case
UNI Feb 01, 2018
Expressing its 'deep concern' over the health of a eight-month-old girl, allegedly raped by her cousin, the Supreme Court on Wednesday directed that two competent doctors from AIIMS would supervise the brutal case and thereafter take a decision on whether to shift her to AIIMS or what could be the best possible step, for the child.
The three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by Chief Justice (CJI) Dipak Misra and also comprising Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud, ordered the Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to assist in the case and posted the matter for further hearing for tomorrow.
The Court passed the direction after hearing a petition filed by lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava, who had knocked the doors of the Court, seeking better treatment for the infant and compensation. The petitioner contended that these kind of cases should be dealt with heavily and a deterrent should be there.
