Haryana Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij said on Sunday that to save the children from the diarrhoea, they were vaccinated by the state health department to provide safety cover to them. 

He said that Haryana was the first state to vaccinate the children against the disease. The Minister disclosed that the arrangements had been made to vaccinate the children against the spread of pneumonia. The costly vaccine had been provided in government hospitals which was given free of cost. 

The Minister was addressing the people after inaugurating the intensive Mission Indradhanush at the CIVIL Hospital Ambala Cantonment. The inauguration of the Mission Indradhanush by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was screened on TV for the benefit of the spectators. Vij said that earlier the mortality rate was 42 after 1,000 children which had now come down to 33 due to steps taken by the health department.
