Sahyadri hospital performs toe implant surgery, first in India

Doctors at Sahyadri Hospital, Pune on January 12 performed the first toe implant surgery in India on a 52-year old patient suffering from Osteoarthritis.
The man had been suffering from pain in his big toe that was getting worse. It ultimately reached a point where he could no longer wear most shoes. The patient is the first Indian to have undergone a toe implant surgery. He was discharged the day after the surgery and doctors have mentioned that he should be able to resume normal activity in about 4 weeks.
