Rajouri DC inspects medical shops, three sealed

On the direction of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad, a team on July 28 inspected 22 medical shops located in vicinity of District Hospital Rajouri to ensure that various provisions of Drugs Cosmetics Act are implemented in letter and spirit.
The team was comprised of Assistant Controller Drug Rajouri Rajesh Angurana, Tehsildar Rajouri and Drug Inspectors with police. During the inspection the team seized 3 medical shops namely Healthcare Medical Hall, Pirpanchal Medical Hall and Peace Medicose for violation of various sections of Drug Cosmetics Act. The team also collected 14 drug samples for lab testing and analysis to ascertain quality of drugs.
Speaking about the drive the Deputy Commissioner said that maintaining quality of medicines is of utmost importance and administration will leave no stone unturned in the interest of the common man. He said that it is the responsibility of the Department to ensure the availability of quality drugs to the public and the market is free from counterfeit, spurious and substandard drugs. He also instructed to make sure that no drugs are sold at a price higher than the retail price marked on the container.
