Rajasthan goes tough on doctors on leave, employees warn of protesters

IANS Dec 11, 2017

Rajasthan's Medical and Health Department on Saturday sought a list of doctors who went on leave on Friday without taking valid permission even as an employees union warned of massive protests if they were not invited for talks.

State Medical and Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf said it was already made clear on Thursday that adequate action will be taken against doctors going on mass leave on Friday. Ignoring those instructions, the doctors went on a day's leave which created many problems for patients in the state, he said, adding that the state government has accepted several demands of the doctors and a few pending ones are being discussed.

Meanwhile, Gajendra Singh Rathore, convener of Akhil Rajasthan Rajya Karamchari Sankyukt Sangarsh Samiti, has warned the state government of staging a massive protest if a bilateral talks are not organised between the protesting employees and the government by December 13. He said that on Friday, around 5 lakh employees were on mass leave. "If the government doesn't pay heed to their seven-point demand, these employees will stage massive protest at district headquarters on December 13 to mar the celebrations being organised to celebrate the four years of the state government," he added.
