Prevent deaths due to medical negligence : HRCPS to Health Secretary

Human Rights and Consumer Protection Society (HRCPS) here today urged the administration to take steps to prevent deaths due to medical negeligence in the Union Territory.
HRCPS General Secretary Muruganandam in a letter to the Health Secretary, a copy marked to the Director, Health Department pointed out the death of a woman in a hospital on the ECR due to medical negligence after giving birth to twins a few weeks back and the plight of another woman in a private hospital near the Rajiv Gandhi square and demanded that concrete steps be taken to prevent such deaths due to medical negligence.
Mr Muruganandam demanded that a committee be constituted to go into the issue of such deaths and to make the public know the real facts behind such deaths. Also, steps be taken to enforce hospital laws in private hospitals, he said and cautioned that if the government had failed, HRCPS would mobilize like minded organizations and hold a demonstration in front of the office of the Director, Health Service on October 3
