Pregnant woman dies in hospital in Rajasthan

A 30-year-old pregnant woman along with her unborn child died allegedly due to the negligence of the doctor at a community health centre at Mangrole town of Baran district, police said today.
The woman, identified as Mamta, was yesterday admitted to the CHC where a doctor examined her and assured the family members of safe delivery as her condition was reported to be normal, they said. The woman complained of labor pain following which a doctor on call was called. He examined her and referred her to a district government hospital in Baran, the police said. The doctor asked the family members to take her to a district hospital as a possibility of the survival of the unborn child still existed, they said. A doctor at the district hospital examined the woman after she was referred from Mangrole and following the examination the doctor declared the woman brought dead, a Principal Medical Officer (PMO), Baran, said.
On a complaint filed by the family members of the woman, a case for committing negligence in treatment was lodged against the doctor at the CHC, SHO Jagdish Prasad Meena said. Following the death of the woman, some people allegedly created ruckus and damaged the CHC. They also damaged the hospital gates and other furniture, the police said. No arrests have been made so far in the matter, Meena said, adding separate cases on the report by the doctor against eight people with names and 20 others have been registered. A case against the doctor on a complaint by the family members of the woman has been registered, he said.
