PGI study reveals internet addiction among resident doctors

A recent study conducted by PGI, Chandigarh among its 376 resident doctors revealed that 54% have a mild internet addiction and 8% used internet excessively.
Out of the 31 doctors who fell in the category of excessive internet users, 67% reported watching pornography at least once a week, 87% never read any material outside their medical curriculum, and everyone used social media for chatting at least once a week. No doctors were found to have a severe internet addiction. This is the first study to survey doctors on personal internet use, rather than professional.
