Performance of civil surgeons be evaluated on set of guidelines issued by health dept: Brahm Mohindra

Punjab government has made Civil Surgeons personally responsible on various accounts and now their working would be evaluated on every fortnight, on the basis of set of guidelines, which have been issued and circulated to them today. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Stating this at a press conference here, Health Minister Brahm Mohindra said that ‘sterilization and sanitation’ centric set of guidelines have been issued for the civil surgeons whereby they have been made accountable for the upkeep of cleanliness in and around the hospitals. Similarly proper record keeping of patient files is to be made certain, with daily abstracts signed by SMOs and IPD Report is to be made mandatory. He said that now civil surgeons would ensure that no unwanted and unnecessary referrals of the patients from one hospital to another hospitals are made and record of each referral must be kept intact for future audit. 

The Minister said that civil surgeons would also ensure that morning and evening rounds by Specialists should be carried out. Likewise SMOs are to conduct daily rounds and civil surgeons are to visit facilities once in a fortnight. As per the guidelines, concerned civil surgeon would also ensure that there must not any unnecessary admissions in medico legal cases and culture swabs of OTs and labour rooms should be made certain, as was being done earlier.
