Patients in trouble as private doctors strike work in Karnataka

People seeking medical attention were put to 'great discomfort' as private doctors went on a one-day strike today opposing proposed amendments to the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Act.
 

 

 

 

Doctors and paramedical staff struck work in over 45,000 private hospitals, diagnostic centres and clinics causing major trouble for people seeking medical help.However, government hospitals worked normally while emergency health services and in-patient wards in the private hospitals were operating.

Hundreds of people who came for treatment in outpatient departments in major hospitals in the city and across Karnataka were shocked to see the notice put up that outpatient departments remained closed today due to doctor's strike.Meanwhile, Doctors and staff in government hospitals worked overtime to treat the continuing stream of patients seeking medical help.
