A patient at Jipmer here allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the third floor of the hospital.

Police said, Vinod, hailing from Bhuvanagiri in Tamil Nadu was mentally unstable and was getting treatment at JIPMER, Pondicherry. He swallowed a blade this morning and was taken to the doctor. On the way he bit the hands of a relative who was holding him and jumped from the third floor of the hospital building. Vinod who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to the ICU where he died in a few minutes after admission. D Nagar police registered a case and are investigating.
