Online counseling for medical seats introduced in Tripura

In order to bring about transparency and efficiency in the allotment process henceforth on-line registration and allotment of seats shall be done for admission to various Under Graduate Medical Courses for first time in Tripura.
Health minister Sudip Roy Barman formally launched the portal on June 26 and immediately online counseling for state seats for UG medical courses began and would be continued till June 30 midnight and result will be declaration on July 3 next. On the other, to improve the health service in Tripura, the state government is contemplating imposition of hefty fine on the doctors who will refuse to return to the state after studying MBBS under state quota or with stipend from the state government.
The Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said it is unfortunate that the young talents of the state after taking all facilities are not returning to serve their state. He said it will not be tolerated anymore and hefty fine will be imposed on the persons who will refuse to return. At present the state medical service have a shortage of about 1200 doctors and almost a similar number of doctors who studied MBBS under state quota are now serving outside the state. Despite repeated appeal from the state government they don’t care to return.
Recently the health minister Sudip Roy Barman announced a new transfer policy in which a doctor after completing three years of rural service automatically will be returning to urban posting. All these attempt and appeal failed to evoke any positive response forcing the state to take a tough stand.
