Odisha launches awareness campaign on Malaria, Dengue and Diarrhoea

Odisha government on June 20 launched a three month long awareness campaign on Malaria, Dengue and Diahorrea with an objective to sensitise the people about the diseases and prevent deaths.
Launching the campaign state Health and Family welfare Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda said the campaign would continue till September 19 next in all the 30 districts and five Municipal Corporations of the state. During the campaign the state would also observe the Intensified Diahorrea Controlled month.
He said the campaign would be launched in two phases. In the first phase the Intensified Diahorrea Control month would be observed from June 20 to July 19 next. During the period ASHA workers would move from door to door, distribute ORS packets to the people and tell them how and when to use them. The ASHA workers would also apprise the people about dos and do nots in the event of breaking out of diahorrea.
In the second phase awareness would be created about how to prevent and control malaria and dengue. During the period ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and women health workers will jointly teach people the need of hand washing in all village schools.
Sanitation and cleaning of the areas would be undertaken at the Gaon Kalyan Samiti level. The awareness campaign would also be launched through television, newspaper, social media, health wall, hoardings and distribution of leaflets. The Health Secretary directed the officials to implement the campaign with all sincerity.
