No doctor for dialysis at Una centre, 2 patient deaths in 3 weeks
The Tribune Nov 28, 2018
The dialysis centre at Una, HP has been functioning without a doctor since the last 45 days, and recently two patients on dialysis have died within a 3-week period, raising serious concerns.
The dialysis centre, set up under the PPP mode only has one senior and three junior technicians and they attend to around 6 patients who come in for dialysis every day. According to the senior technician, the doctor who was earlier managing the centre left to pursue higher studies.
When asked about the patient deaths, he said that the patients could have been terminally ill. In such cases, he always consults a nephrologist hired by the dialysis company about intravenous injections, but even then the patients failed to recover. The technician mentioned that his seniors have assured that a doctor and manager will be hired soon.
