PTI Apr 03, 2018

The Chief Minister of UP has assured that there will be no shortage of funds for vaccination drives, due to be held against Japanese Encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on April 2 assured that there will be no dearth of funds in effectively checking encephalitis, but stressed the importance of cleanliness to prevent the disease. The chief minister was here to inaugurate the 'Dastak and School Chalo' campaign under which children will be vaccinated for Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). "There will be no dearth of funds for treatment and vaccination to end encephalitis from the area but cleanliness is a must for prevention and village heads and Gram Panchayats should ensure cleanliness in their areas," said Adityanath.

"The other thing besides cleanliness which is required for encephalitis prevention is potable water..the village heads have the funds to repair the hand pumps and also to install new hand pumps," he said. Adityanath sought people's cooperation in making the 'Dastak' campaign successful. The campaign will run for 15 days across the state. Speaking about the 'school chalo' campaign, Adityanath said the state government had made available bags and other stationery items under the campaign. "This month, they will get books and copies too. The children are going to school with a smile and without any fear," he said.
