NISH to hold online seminar on 'Hearing Loss' on May 19

National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) will be conducting an online seminar on “Hearing Loss: Genetic Causes and Management options” for the caregivers in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Justice on May 19.
The Interactive Disability Awareness Seminar (NIDAS), the 31st such event to be conducted by NISH, will be led by Dr. Shankar V.H, Additional Professor, Genetics Department of Pediatrics, SAT Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. It will be streamed live for the registered participants from the NISH campus at Akkulam here from 1030 hrs. The proceedings will be simultaneously webcast to all the District Child Protection Units (DCPU) offices for audiences there.
The two-and-a-half hour seminar, in Malayalam, aims at giving awareness on genetic causes of hearing loss and its different management options to the parents and caregivers. Those who wish to participate may contact the Child Protection Units Officer nearest to them or register online. Participants should have a personal computer/laptop/tablet along with reliable high-speed internet connectivity, webcam and microphone to take part in the discussions.
