NiH: 29 under close observation in various hospitals

As many as 29 persons were under close observation in various hospitals due to the deadly Nipah Virus (NiV) that had so far claimed 12 lives in Northern Kerala during the past fortnight.
 

 


According to State Health Department figures released on May 25 on people who are under close observation, Kozhikode district tops the list with 11 followed by Malappuram nine. Ernakulam accounted for four, Kottayam two, Thrissur, Wayanad and Thiruvanthapuram one each. The deadly fever caused by NiV had so far confirmed in 14 persons out of which 12 were succumbed, the department said. The condition of Abhin, a native of Palazhi in this district, who is undergoing treatment in Malabar Institute of Medical Science (MIMS), is said to be serious, the department added.
