Miffed over the death of an infant during delivery at the primary health care center located under Vasishtha Nagar Jori Police Station area of this district locals blocked traffic movement on the Chatra-Gaya main road NH-99 for more than five hours.
 

Due to the agitation a long queue of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road. Family members said that the baby died due to negligence of the health employees and staff. The family members said without the presence of the doctor the nurse present in the health care center carried out the delivery of the child. They said that the child was born safely but within few minutes his condition declined after which the nurse asked the people to take the child to Gaya. However, on the way the child died.

Post the incident the people returned to the primary health care center and blocked the traffic movement on NH-99 demanding action against the erring doctors and the health staff. They alleged that due to lack of facilities including oxygen cylinder the child had died. Meanwhile SDO Rajeev Kumar and SDPO Gyan Ranjan had reached the spot and were holding dialogue with the villagers to call off their agitation.
