MPPEB scam: CBI arrests medical officer

A medical officer – who was absconding in a case related to the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam – has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Haidergarh in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district.
A chargesheet was filed against Virendra Mourya on November 23, 2017, in a case pertaining to the Pre-Medical Test-2012 before a special court here.The trial court had issued non-bailable warrant against Virendra – who was posted as a medical officer in Rae Bareli district, a CBI release said today.
An investigation revealed that Virendra – in conspiracy with middleman Sonu Pachouri – appeared in the PMT-2012 at an examination centre in Indore and helped another candidate by allowing her to copy answers from him.In 2012, Virendra was already pursuing MBBS course at a government medical college in Kanpur (admission Batch year 2008) and had no intention of taking admission in the MBBS course in any private medical college of Madhya Pradesh.
