MOHFW launches CORS at Jipmer

Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW), Government of India has launched ‘CollabDDS Online Radiology Service (CORS)’ for Jipmer, Puducherry.
A Jipmer release on September 4 said, the Union Government is providing this service to Jipmer due to acute shortage of expert Radiologists in remote/rural areas of the country and for providing online Tele-Radiology Consultations by it. According to Prof. Ravi Kumar Chittoria, Nodal Officer Telemedicine Jipmer, the ‘CollabDDS’ stands for ‘Collaborative Digital Diagnosis System’.
It is a Software based Tele-Radiology Service in which remotely situated Radiologist of Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, District Hospital and Medical Colleges can avail online reporting of Radiology images of X-Ray, Ultrasound, CT Scan and MRI. The Hardware and Software is provided free of cost by Government of India in Collaboration with MOH&FW and National Informatics Centre (NIC), New Delhi.
This Software is jointly developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) Delhi, CSIR Chandigarh, IIT Bombay & AIIMS Delhi. Before the actual launch, Jipmer was provided the software for trial & testing and this was successful. This software tested will be used for National Knowledge Network (NKN) connectivity with the help of NIC Puducherry, the release said.
